Bio-seal and airtight dampers
Low-leakage airtight dampers for ventilation ducts in containment facilities, closing with a gas-tight seal so rooms can be isolated for decontamination and zero-leakage duty at a specified pressure difference.

Description
A bio-seal or airtight damper (low-leakage damper) is a shut-off valve for ventilation ducts where air tightness is critical. In the closed position the blade presses against corrosion-resistant seals so effectively that the valve achieves zero leakage at the specified pressure difference, stopping gases, microorganisms and other contaminants from moving through the duct. The actuator and seals are tested for reliable, fast closing in an emergency. The drive has a simple operation with clear position indication, and the seals can be replaced without specialist work, keeping downtime low. Dampers are built in materials that withstand the chemicals and disinfectants used in containment areas.
Features
- Zero-leakage shut-off at the specified pressure difference in the closed position.
- Corrosion-resistant body and seals for disinfectant-rich environments.
- Fast, reliable emergency closing with clear position indication.
- Seals are replaceable without specialist work.
- Manual or actuated drive arrangements for duct isolation.
Applications
- Supply and exhaust ducts of BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories
- Biopharmaceutical production ventilation
- Duct shut-off for room decontamination and containment isolation
- Nuclear, petrochemical, food and chemical plants with zero-leakage requirements
Supply scope
What is supplied, and what stays with the buyer.
- Damper supplied as a fixed configuration by duct size, pressure class, leakage class and drive type, confirmed before quotation.
- Quoted with the damper body, seal set and drive; position switches and actuators are listed when required.
- Duct installation, sealing on site and functional testing stay with the buyer or the buyer's contractor.
Configurations
Fixed configurations that can be quoted.
A configuration code fixes the dimensions, electrical data, materials and documents. Quote requests that reference a code skip the specification round.
What we need to quote
